His reason for playing in this summer’s Olympics is predictably sad.
He doesn’t know where it all went wrong. He misses his buddy LeBron James. His New York Knicks are a combined 84-145 in the last three years.
This season for Carmelo has been one big sulk fest. And now, this via ESPN:
“From a morale standpoint as a player, if you’ve been through the things I’ve been through the past couple of years, you want to feel what that success feels like. You want that success. So the Olympics for me is great timing, especially coming off this season and injuries, and mentally it’s good for me to get out there and feel what that feels like again.”
He says he forgets what winning feels like. Jesus God Damn Christ Carmelo, what’s going on with you?
Remember when Carmelo was relevant? Did you know his teams didn’t miss the playoffs once in his first ten years? He’s the only one from that ’03 class to do that. Remember when he went toe-to-toe with Kobe in the ’09 West Finals? That was awesome.
Cheer up ‘Melo, that Super team might be closer than you think.
