According to ESPN’s (Jonah Hill Impostor) Brian Windhorst, Dwayne Wade is pretty pissed off at the Heat, and he may start to look elsewhere for his next contract.
“Sources told ESPN.com that Wade’s representatives have made it known to multiple teams over the last several days that he will be on the market, sources said. Some teams have been skeptical, wondering if Wade would seriously consider leaving the franchise where he’s played 13 seasons and won three titles.”
Hmmmm. (The Jonah Hill Impostor) Brian Windhorst makes a good point. Perhaps Wade is only using this as leverage against Pat Riley. Riley is smart, and definitely knows his legacy would be damaged if he allowed the organization’s best player ever to walk for nothing.
But Wade is one of nine free agents that Riley has to worry about (including Hassan Whiteside, his “top priority”), and he only has $40 million in cap space to work with. Plus Riley wants to sign Kevin Durant.
So I understand why he would want to avoid another $20 million contract like the one Wade signed last year…
For more insight on this topic, OTB reached out to Kelly Pylinski, our resident concerned Miami Heat fan from Utica, NY:
There you have it, folks. All six of the Miami heat fans would not be in favor of Wade playing elsewhere.
Imagine him with another team? It would be strange. But who knows, maybe Cleveland could use a new shooting guard…………..
